What this page is
This page explains how to close your HomeSense account and exercise your right to erasure under Section 12 of the DPDP Act. It is a practical rights guide. It does not replace our full Privacy Policy. If anything here conflicts with that Policy, the Privacy Policy controls for data-protection wording, and the Terms of Use control for contractual terms of the Service.
You are the Data Principal. qBit Sensor LLP is the Data Fiduciary.
1. Your legal right (plain language)
Under the DPDP Act:
- You may ask us to correct, complete, update, or erase personal data that we process on the basis of your consent or certain legitimate uses (Section 12).
- When you ask for erasure, we must erase your personal data unless retention is still necessary for the specified purpose for which it was collected, or for compliance with any law in force in India (Section 12(3)).
- Closing your account is how we give effect to erasure for HomeSense cloud account data in the ordinary case. Withdrawing consent for processing that is necessary to run the Service also means we must stop providing that Service and will close the account (see Privacy Policy, Section 4).
- You also have rights of access (Section 11), grievance redressal (Section 13), and nomination (Section 14). Those are summarised in the Privacy Policy and can be raised through the channels below.
We will not refuse erasure merely because it is inconvenient for us. We may still keep a narrow set of records where Indian law requires it (for example certain security or transaction logs for a mandated period).
The cooling-off period and the requirement to unpair all devices (below) are conditions for completing account closure safely. They do not deny your statutory right to erasure. Once those conditions are met and the request is not cancelled, we complete cloud erasure within a reasonable time.
2. How to request account deletion
Use any one of these methods. Tell us the mobile number registered on the account so we can verify it is you.
| Channel | How |
|---|---|
| In the HomeSense App | Use Settings → Account / Delete account (or the equivalent control) when that screen is available on your build. |
| Write to connect@qbitsensor.in with subject Account deletion request, your registered mobile number, and a clear statement that you want the account erased. | |
| Grievance Officer | If you are chasing a delayed or disputed deletion, use the grievance form or email rashmi@qbitsensor.in. |
We may ask for a reasonable verification step (for example an OTP to the registered number) before we act. That protects your household from someone else closing your account.
3. Preconditions — unpair all devices first
Account deletion is processed only when no HomeSense devices remain paired to your account.
Before we complete erasure you must:
- Unpair every owned device while it is powered and nearby (Bluetooth or your home Wi-Fi), so consumer data on the unit (pairing secrets, Wi-Fi credentials, members, schedules, and settings) is cleared as the product implements; and
- Ensure that, at the time erasure is due to complete, the account has zero paired devices.
If any device is still paired when the cooling-off period ends, we will not erase the account yet. The deletion request remains pending (unless cancelled) until all devices are unpaired. We will tell you what remains paired if you ask. Contact connect@qbitsensor.in if a unit cannot be unpaired.
This precondition exists so household equipment is not left tied to an account that no longer exists, and so a later owner can pair the hardware cleanly.
4. What happens after you request deletion
Step A — We acknowledge
We aim to acknowledge deletion and other privacy rights requests within 48 hours of receipt (same commitment as in our Privacy Policy).
Step B — Cooling-off period (thirty days)
After a verified deletion request, we apply a cooling-off period of thirty (30) calendar days, starting on the day we record your verified request.
During the cooling-off period you may cancel the request by:
- signing in / logging in to the HomeSense App or related Service with that account (a successful login automatically cancels the pending deletion request); or
- using an in-App Abort / Cancel deletion control when available; or
- emailing connect@qbitsensor.in from or about the registered account and asking us to cancel.
Cancellation restores normal use. The cooling-off period is a product safeguard against accidental account closure. It is not a refusal of your right to erasure under Section 12.
Step C — Completion after cooling-off
When all of the following are true, we complete account erasure within a reasonable time:
- the thirty-day cooling-off period has ended without cancellation; and
- no devices remain paired to the account.
We then:
- delete or anonymise cloud personal data tied to your account;
- instruct processors (such as our cloud providers) to delete their copies where applicable;
- clear pairing secrets and related account data on the phone as the App implements;
- end household memberships and outstanding invites linked to your account as described in the Privacy Policy.
Hardware factory identity on a physical unit may remain on the device as described in the Privacy Policy (so the unit can be set up again).
5. After deletion — hardware may be transferred or re-paired
Once your account is deleted and devices were unpaired as required:
- the physical HomeSense / qBit hardware remains your property (or the property of whoever owns the unit under ordinary property and sale law);
- because consumer pairing data was cleared on unpair, the hardware may be sold, gifted, or otherwise transferred to another person; and
- that person (or you, on a new account) may pair the unit afresh to a different HomeSense account, subject to the Terms of Use and product instructions.
Account deletion does not by itself transfer title in the hardware. Title passes only under a separate sale, gift, or other lawful transfer. Warranty and returns for hardware remain governed by our Warranty & Returns policy, not by this page.
6. What we delete vs what we may keep
| Usually deleted or anonymised | May be retained for a limited period / legal need |
|---|---|
| Account profile (name, mobile number for sign-in) | Records we must keep under Indian law |
| Cloud home / room labels and account-linked setup | Security, abuse, or operational logs for short retention windows stated in the Privacy Policy |
| Profile photo stored in our cloud | Minimum processing logs where the DPDP Rules require retention for a prescribed period (then erased) |
| Push tokens for your installations | Pending legal claims or regulatory requests, only as required |
| Invite records tied to your account | Anonymised analytics that are no longer personal data |
Deleting the App from your phone, or signing out alone, is not the same as account erasure. Cloud data may remain until you complete a deletion request that is not cancelled and for which all devices have been unpaired.
7. Household members and invitees
- If you are an owner, closing your account ends the household you control. Invitees may lose access. Unpair owned devices before completion as required above.
- If you are a family or guest member, you may ask us to remove your membership and erase personal data we hold about you as a member. Owner-held home configuration and paired devices may remain with the owner’s account.
- Invitee contact details you entered for someone else are handled as described in the Privacy Policy (household invites).
8. Timelines we commit to
| Action | Target |
|---|---|
| Acknowledge the request | Within 48 hours |
| Cooling-off / cancellation window | Thirty (30) calendar days (login, in-App abort, or email cancel) |
| Devices must be unpaired | Before erasure can complete; request stays pending if any device remains paired |
| Complete cloud erasure after cooling-off and zero paired devices | Within a reasonable time; we aim to finish ordinary account erasure promptly and treat unresolved privacy complaints within 30 days as stated in the Privacy Policy |
If we cannot fully erase something immediately because law requires retention, we will say so and erase or anonymise when that duty ends.
9. If you are not satisfied
